Religious School and Continuing Education
The North Tahoe Hebrew Congregation Religious School is in session from September through May. The school meets on Tuesdays from 4:00 to 6:15PM and serves students in Kindergarten through B'nai Mitzvah. Our teachers use the U.R.J. Chai Curriculum for Judaica and U.R.J. Mitkadem Curriculum for Hebrew.
Our Torah Tots program is for children birth through Preschool.
This program is designed to introduce young Jewish families to each
other through social discussions and children's playtime.
A parent discussion component with the rabbi emphasizes keeping a Jewish home.
Tot Shabbat services are the first Friday of the month at 5:00pm.
The Torah Tots program meets during the school year on the third Friday of
the month at 5:00 PM. Torah Tots families are encouraged to participate
in the Potluck Shabbat dinner at 6:00 PM and the Shabbat Service that follows.
The Jewish teens in our congregation have formed a special program called NoTTY, North Tahoe Teens and Youth. They meet once a month with the Rabbi to have fun and discuss teen-life issues. The post B'nai Mitzvah students also help in the Religious School classrooms as Teachers' Assistants.
The new Eitz Chaim program is monthly at 4:00pm on Tuesdays during Religious School.
Eitz Chaim is open to all students who are post B'nai Mitzvah and are
still attending secular junior or senior high school.
The Family Shabbat Service is held on the third Friday of the month.
During the school year, there is a Pizza Dinner Social and Fundraiser
for the school, prior to the Shabbat service.
The Education Committee works with Rabbi to oversee the school. The committee also works with parents and Sisterhood to put on an annual fundraising carnival event at Chanukah or at Purim, as well as other special services and events during the year.
