North Tahoe Hebrew Congregation is led by...

Rabbi Meredith Cahn rabbi@tahoetemple.org
Rabbi Meredith Cahn comes to the rabbinate through a career in public health, by a rather circuitous route that affords her a clear view of what it is to be unaffiliated, and what might be necessary to bring people back to active Jewish life, and how to offer people a way out of spiritual boredom. Her passions range from assuring that people with disabilities are included and welcomed into the Jewish community to engendering a love and understanding of Jewish traditions, making them work within the 21st century to building deep, caring community. She loves to dance and sing - at services especially, and welcomes all comers.
A University of Pennsylvania graduate with a Masters in Public Health from the University of California, Berkeley School of Public Health, she was ordained at the Academy for Jewish Religion, California where she earned a Masters in Rabbinic Studies (finally her MRS!). She worked as rabbinic intern at Congregation Shomrei Torah in Santa Rosa, California, where she taught adult education and provided pastoral care to senior congregants. Before entering the rabbinate, she served as Sisterhood president and secretary of the Pacific Northwest District of the Women of Reform Judaism.
She has been the Rabbi at North Tahoe Hebrew Congregation since the summer of 2011, and lives in Tahoe along with her husband, Sam Doctors, their daughter Olya and their three cats.
